GLORIOUS MESS
Tsega helps me empty an extra can of baking powder lying around. What would I do without his ability to discern when there are perfectly happy messes imprisoned in useless cans with flimsy lids in unlocked cabinets? Nothing. I would do nothing. I would die of boredom. I wouldn't get to use my little friend.

GLORIOUS HAIR I
Spacing out for braids in front of Elmo. My little Habesha doesn't cry when I pull on his head for hours. He loves it. He asks for his hair to be braided and for this, I love him on Sundays. Until we get to church, but I don't blame him for that.
GLORIOUS HAIR II
I liked this all the way through until the last line. Then I loved it.

That video Rocks! You know what else rocks... cookies face coming around the corner!
Know what else rocks? How much he's going to bask in the sands of a beach every day. Spillage everywhere. And from the looks of it- he'll be doing handstands before it's all over.
this makes me feel better...about the 3 cans of sprinkles i walked into ON THE FLOOR. levi had so kindly dumped them out. AND put all the empty containers in the trash can before he went back to play in the sprinkles! that part killed me! :-)
You have mad braiding skills. Way to go! I might be coming for tutorials someday soon.
Thanks Kim! I started very simply. With just touching his head and pulling his hair while rubbing his head. Then two pony tails, then four. Then to box braids. Then two french braids. Then four. Over months he got used to me working for longer and longer and I got practice with my technique. You've got older boys coming your way, so obviously they will have a much stronger opinion if they want to grow their hair long and have braids more than Tsega does right now. On a separate note: be prepared for some people to think it's wrong. Shockingly, to me anyway, I've gotten a some crap about his hair being in neat cornrows. I was told once that braids on boys belong "in NBA mansions or in the projects" only. It was completely bizarre to me and it was from an AA woman who is totally allowed to have that opinion, but it wasn't easy to hear. But I have also gotten positive feedback from other AA women about the care I do for his hair. -- This all being said, it's been an awesome bonding exercise for us. He is so still and patient and loves the feeling and for that time we spend together alone I don't give a flaming frack what people think. As my boy gets older he and his dad will probably decide what to do, but I kinda hope he likes me to help him with his hair. Who knows? If you ever have any questions, I am happy to offer up what I know! I really love doing hair. :)
I absolutely loved that video!!!! And I so wish that I knew you in person so I could come over and play with your kids. LOL Every picture of them looks like so much fun!
